NARRATOR:
Bitcoin. Secrets. Betrayal.
LAUREN:
This whole area feels empty. Not just small-town empty. Something else.
Why would Uncle Ted—or anyone—willingly isolate themselves out here?
What was Uncle Ted running from?
NARRATOR:
It started with a voice memo, two sisters, a mysterious inheritance, and an uncle no one had seen in years.
LAUREN:
Ellie, quick question.
How did we never stop to ask, hey—why does Dad's brother live in a spooky hermit mansion in the middle of nowhere?
ELLIE:
It’s a scenic drive, Lauren. Not the Oregon Trail.
NARRATOR:
When Lauren gets summoned to a remote cabin to handle her late uncle’s estate, she finds something he left behind.
Something that doesn’t quite add up.
LAUREN:
You’re telling me the guy who couldn’t pay his property taxes was secretly sitting on a pile of digital gold?
LAWYER:
Ted was full of contradictions. Eccentric. Unpredictable.
He regularly joked about losing all his wealth in a boating accident.
But I wouldn’t bet on it.
BEN:
Wait, wait, wait—have you seen the price of Bitcoin lately?
If Uncle Ted had even, like, a couple bitcoin, we’re talking serious cash.
NARRATOR:
The deeper she goes, the stranger it gets.
And the clock is ticking.
Wait—something’s off.
LAUREN:
What am I supposed to do?
Wander the woods with a metal detector hoping to stumble across a golden USB drive?
Or a treasure chest labeled: magic internet money inside?
You do get how insane this sounds, right?
NARRATOR:
But what she found wasn’t treasure.
It was a trail—left behind by a man who didn’t trust anyone.
Not even his own blood.
UNCLE TED (recording):
No one is coming to save me.
No one is coming to save you.
If you don’t believe it or don’t get it...
Sorry, I don’t have time to explain it to you.
HANK:
Don’t underestimate Ted.
You know, he wasn’t the kind of guy to leave loose ends.
Everything he did had a reason—even if nobody else saw it at the time.
LAUREN:
Look, I am not getting sucked into some bogus treasure hunt.
I came here to sign paperwork, not play detective.
NARRATOR:
Voicemails. Group chats. Encrypted files.
A mystery stitched together from fragments left behind.
LAUREN:
There was someone else here.
EX-BOYFRIEND:
He wanted you—or someone—to find it.
LAWYER:
Buried. Hidden. Who knows?
LAUREN:
What aren’t you telling me?
HANK:
Never know what’s lurking in these woods.
LAUREN:
Oh my God. What is happening?
ELLIE:
Call me back, Lauren. Please.
